Just a few short weeks ago our church was engaged in a Thanksgiving outreach where we gave baskets of food to families in our community. One of the testimonies from that day has made a lasting impression on my heart.
A team of ours knocked on a door, and an elderly lady answered. We let her know that we were there to bless her with a Thanksgiving meal basket. Come to find out, she’s a Grandma that is raising her 6 grandkids. Immediately she began to cry tears of joy! After a few moments to gather herself, she began to testify about the faithfulness of the Lord! She told our team that the week before one of the children asked her “Grandma, what are we going to do for Thanksgiving?” She didn’t have the answer, but without thinking she said, “the Lord will provide.”
She walked away from that question knowing that if God didn’t provide, she would not have the means to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner. For several days, she considered the child’s question. Then she got out her best plates, glasses, and napkins and SET THE TABLE!
When our team returned to tell the story, my heart melted when I heard the words “she SET THE TABLE!” She simply MADE ROOM for God to move in her situation.
On December 24th, I invite you to join Steph and I as we “set the table” and MAKE ROOM for Him to move in our lives by our sacrificial GIVING. I don’t know what you are believing for this Christmas season; but I do know that if you will SET THE TABLE, if you make room for Him and step out in Faith, He will show up every time!
