The day is fast approaching. It’s hard to believe that it’s already here. All of the stockings, lights, wrapping and bows, lead back to one thing – a Baby in the manger! In the middle of it all, we must find Him! He is the reason for the season and every encounter with Him leaves us different in some way.
I don’t know how many times I have read the words recorded in Luke 2:8.“And there were shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’”
I want you to focus your attention on the words “And this shall be a sign unto you; YOU SHALL FIND.” Each of us is LOOKING for something, often in the wrong place, but we’re all searching. Over 2,000 years ago, the angel announced that the Father’s GIFT had arrived! This announcement sent the Wise Men on a journey looking for the King so that they might come with their gifts and worship Him. They came to GIVE, and in their giving they FOUND what they were looking for!
No matter what you may be looking for this Christmas. No matter where your search may have taken you. The gift given by the Father so long ago can still be FOUND TODAY! On Christmas Eve Sunday morning, I invite you to come with your sacrificial gifts of worship for the King. No matter what you are looking for – in your giving – YOU FIND HIM!
