Day Ten

FASTING CREATES SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE!  Proverbs 19:20-21 says, “Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end, you will be counted among the wise.  Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”  We all need to be disciplined to have successful and prosperous lives.  Discipline is an activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill or a person.

Fasting is one of God’s activities that causes us to be better sons and daughters of God.  Fasting eventually will give you the power to say yes to God’s will and plan for your life.  Discipline today produces strength and endurance for tomorrow.  Let’s not just be a disciple of Christ in some things, but let us endeavor to be complete in Christ in all things.  True disciples of Christ develop the practice of fasting!

Let’s challenge ourselves during this season!  During these twenty days of fasting, don’t forget to spend time today reading the Bible, worshipping God in your private time, serving in our church and your community.  And set aside that dollar for every member of your family so when we break the fast together on Sunday, January 26th each member of your family will be able to sow in that offering.  We will close our 20:20 fast with a worship night for family and friends that Sunday evening.  We are anticipating what God is going to do in us and through us during these twenty days.
